Your pulmonary hypertension doesn’t make you different from other people with the possibility of getting infected with coronavirus (COVID-19).
For now, it’s not fully understood how COVID-19 infection will affect people suffering from PH. While a mild state of illness is seen in the ones with general well-being, the possibility of being at risk of a much more serious disease is high for the ones having serious PH and related problems. In addition to this, it shouldn’t be forgotten that all of the individuals having PH are different from each other. Many of the patients have additional health problems, and they may have different conditions and needs.

  • Look after yourself well and continue your treatment, which is recommended to you.
  • Eat well and prioritise hydration.
  • Regular hand washing is the most effective way to decrease your risk of infection. Wash your hands at least for 20 seconds, especially after spending time at the places open to the public (click here). Evade touching your face as much as possible. Be sure that everyone at your home, working space and social environment performs the handwashing techniques correctly.
  • Evade from physical touch from the ones having breathing symptoms such as coughing, cold or lung infection.
  • We don’t recommend full isolation to everyone having PH, but we recommend you stay at home as much as possible.
  • If you have a catheter for intravenous treatment of PH and you have a high fever (38°C or more), go to a healthcare centre.
  • Don’t go to places with poor air conditioning systems, which have a higher risk of prolonged exposure to crowds.
  • Be sure that you’re fully vaccinated against other preventable infections, including flu.
  • Avoid international travel, unnecessary flights and other travel as much as possible.
  • We recommend you consult your employer to think of different ways to protect yourself in your workplace. For example, is it possible to work from home?

We wish you health and happiness…
